Who We Are
The Russian River Confluence is a collaboration of partners dedicated to creating a generational shift in restoring, renewing, and celebrating the future of the Russian River watershed.
From headwaters to ocean, we depend upon this river system, our most pivotal of natural resources, for the water we drink, the food we eat and the beauty that surrounds us. The only way to ensure a healthy future for our environment, our economy, and our community is through committing to the regeneration of our river and watershed.
Initially launched in 2017, the organization brought together stakeholders for a series of “beyond sustainability” conversations and to tap the collective capacity of the Russian River Watershed community. In 2021 these informal conversations coalesced into a partnership Memorandum of Understanding with water agencies, county and state entities, nonprofits, and tribal partners participating from throughout Mendocino and Sonoma Counties to work together for the health of the watershed.
Now, the Russian River Confluence is proud to become a program of Conservation Works, ensuring its collaborative efforts remain strong while benefiting from expanded organizational support. The Confluence will continue to operate as a partnership with the same steering committee and commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. By evaluating, enhancing, and expanding its programming, the collaborative seeks to serve and learn from all watershed communities, creating resilience at a landscape scale for current and future generations.
We recognize the importance of working to build and sustain an inclusive and equitable culture within our organization to effectively serve and learn from all watershed communities and create landscape-scale resilience for current and future generations. As the watershed flows entirely on the ancestral and unceded lands of the Pomo, Miwok, and Wappo Native American tribes, the inclusion of tribal stewardship is integral to the development of the collaborative partnership.
