Join us in creating a healthy future for our economy, community, and environment by committing to the regeneration of our river and watershed.

Local businesses have an integral role in the future and health of our communities. Collaborating with the RR Confluence, your business will benefit from promotions, branding, and sustainable tourism. Plus, you’ll know that you’ve done your part in revitalizing the Russian River Watershed.   

The goal of the RESPECT RUSSIAN RIVER campaign is to provide merchandise and promotional material reflective of our dedication to the health of the river and its surrounding environment, while also promoting Russian River businesses and providing discounted, popular products to drive retail revenue. 

We are open to any input you have on the growth of the program. This is a collaboration. 

The logo and campaign were designed for longevity. The logo is compatible with a variety of creative applications. If you are in our program, you can use the logo on any merchandise you create, or you can give us ideas and feedback on what you’d like to see from us. The RR Confluence can pay for the design and initial sample of the product, making the merchandise part of our volume discounted line.

How our retail program works

Benefits: 

  • Promotions - As a collaborator in the RRR program, we want you to be able to promote your establishment with the wording “This business participates in the Respect Russian River program. Every purchase gives a percentage back to keeping the Russian River watershed healthy.” 

  • You will be promoted on the RR Confluence website under “Retail Partners” and “Where to Buy” Map of the river. 

  • Logo & Identity assets - you may use the logo on your website and provide us with information on your business to be included in our online platform. Please follow the logo guidelines here. (insert link) 

  • Merchandise - the RR Confluence will invest in the design and development of new merchandise each season based on your input and you will therefore be able to lower your costs and benefit from volume pricing should you decide to carry any of the products. 

  • You may display the RRR logo on your window, showing your support for the River.

  • Events - You will be invited to participate in joint promotional/volunteer activities, RR Confluence events, and provided with sponsor opportunities. 

Your Participation in Stewardship: 

  • You will adopt the business pledge.

  • You will carry any items from the RRR line each year.

  • You will provide a donation each year to the RR Confluence based on sales of merchandise or your desire to support the organization. There is no set amount, just contribute to the cause as you see fit. Every dollar goes back into this program and projects engaged in cleaning up the river. 

  • You will follow the logo guidelines when you use it.

  • You will contribute ideas and feedback when requested or as you desire.

The RESPECT RUSSIAN RIVER campaign was developed to support the mission of the RR Confluence in strengthening the health of the entire watershed. The campaign, with your help, will create awareness around the pivotal role the Russian River has in our community and spark engagement and stewardship in the watershed. The display and sale of Respect Russian River branded merchandise will engage the community on the health of the Russian River while generating revenue for businesses and the RR Confluence. Additionally, the overall RR Confluence activities and online presence will be powerful tools for promoting participating businesses.

Our partners at the RR Confluence have projects that need the engagement of the community –engagement that local businesses tap into every single day! By using your resources to support our partners, your business can contribute to the collaboration at the RR Confluence that will lead to a healthier, more vibrant River community. This can be in the form of funds, supplies, and volunteers from your business. We will offer media documentation of your contribution to promote the important work your business is doing on behalf of the community, as well as highlight your contributions at our annual partner conference!

Becoming an Eco-Friendly Business

It’s never been more vital and more practical to adapt your business for climate resiliency and watershed renewal. As a business pledging to Rep RESPECT in collaboration with the RR Confluence, you will embody the mission of the Confluence in creating a healthier environment, community, and economy through the implementation of eco-friendly business practices. 

This is a collaborative process, and we are open to developing new paths for local businesses to exemplify river stewardship. Here are some ideas to help you invigorate your business’s positive environmental impact: 

Water Conservation 

  • Regularly check and fix leaks 

  • Install rainwater catchment 

  • Install low-flush toilets  

  • Use drought-resistant landscaping with native plants 

  • Meter water use

Waste and Single Use Alternatives

  • Avoid supplying single-use plastics; switch to compostables 

  • Contract with a trash company that sorts trash 

  • Use recyclable materials 

  • Source sustainable goods and service suppliers   

  • Donate items instead of sending them to the landfill when possible   

  • Prioritize reusable office supplies  

Reduce Energy Use 

  • Invest in energy-efficient appliances  

  • Install LED lighting when possible, timers on lights 

  • Install solar panels, water heating 

  • Unplug after hours 

  • Encourage employees to reduce emissions on their commute through alternative transportation like bikes, carpooling, and public transit
